What's with the Barney Fife cop who whizzes around in the unmarked Ford Explorer, making the "big busts'? He stops people going a few mph over the limit on Division St. in light traffic. I've seen him whip his vehicle around ON the Division st railroad overpass, and pursue someone through half the town to make the "big bust", probably 40 mph in a 35 zone. I've seen him conduct a traffic stop on the Illinois River bridge, southbound, just over the crest of the bridge, in the right hand lane (there's no shoulder)--how hazardous! He's chased these vicious lawbreakers and finally apprehended them south of Morris, on East Pine Bluff Road. PLEASE, one of you veteran Morris Cops, take this obvious rookie aside and clue him in to real law enforcement behavior.
Morris police dept. needs an outside person maybe someone from the FBI... I bet a lot of those officers would sake in their boots if a Fed. came in and snoop around. Some elected officials would do the same.

Tell me when the last time you saw Jim Baum and Bob Narvick bellied up to the bar with the tavern crawlers, please. The *big shots* are the ones who had the money to run the ads, put up the billboards, etc.
That being said, the grass roots voters also wanted change from the shinanigans going on with the last mayor.

Look at the aquafer to see how the water pollution problem negatively impacts hundreds of miles of population. Where were all the intelligecia who live outside Morris and for whom this pollution also impacts when these decisions were made back in the 1950's and 1960's and again in the 1970's? Somebody sold out to the devil but it wasn't the everyday person. It was powerful business people from the 1950's and on. These are the same type people who have run our gasoline prices to the moon. Electricity and plastics are BIG business, not controlled in the least by locals no matter where they are located.

We all know which names really runs this town and we all know what political stance they take. Guess which contractor always gets the jobs? I read that article in the paper today. It's TERRIBLE that someone would think that there is any justification for some idiot parent running on a field and choking someone. When is violence and assault ever justified? That commenter must be sociopathic to believe such a thing.

School District 54 spent money it didn't have to build a gigantic school it couldn't maintain. Very poor decision-making with our tax dollars. Now the city is in need of more space and a way to fund it is through TIF funds. This issue is being argued throughout the state in various communities with the same problem.

Tell me when the last time you saw Jim Baum and Bob Narvick bellied up to the bar with the tavern crawlers, please. The *big shots* are the ones who had the money to run the ads, put up the billboards, etc.
That being said, the grass roots voters also wanted change from the shinanigans going on with the last mayor.
The *good ole boy* network that *gets things done* around here is about four or five older businessmen with lots of money and influence, not the blue collar high school buddies constantly mentioned.
And just for the record, most people in this town aren't hanging around the bars. We are too busy working, taking our kids to practice and lessons, helping them with their homework, trying to make a decent living and a decent family life.
And, all of us, from newcomers to old timers, realize Morris is growing. We all welcome growth so long as it doesn't turn Grundy County into DuPage County, speaking of out of control growth and corruption.
Those of us who live here now did not vote to allow the power plants or Quantum (whatever it is called now) to come in here and pollute our air and our water--and the air and water for hundreds of miles. Look at the aquafer to see how the water pollution problem negatively impacts hundreds of miles of population. Where were all the intelligecia who live outside Morris and for whom this pollution also impacts when these decisions were made back in the 1950's and 1960's and again in the 1970's? Somebody sold out to the devil but it wasn't the everyday person. It was powerful business people from the 1950's and on. These are the same type people who have run our gasoline prices to the moon. Electricity and plastics are BIG business, not controlled in the least by locals no matter where they are located.
As long as I have the pulpit, Merc is not a progressive. No one knows what he is because he just attacks anyone NOT a Republican because he is Weller's toadie. Merc should just cut to the chase and have Weller get him a job as a lobbyist. Think about it. The spa had been raided under the administration of the previous chief a number of times but everytime the cops got there someone was tipped off and they found nothing. If the spa was getting tipped off it only had to have come from the top of the food chain. Call a raid to make it look as if the city is actually doing something about it, but then tip off the owner before the raid occurs. Wasn't the son the same one who owned the bikini hair cutting place, whereby half naked women would cut men's hair? Let's not even go into detail about the antics of the daughter. (720 ILCS 5/11‑7) (from Ch. 38, par. 11‑7)
Sec. 11‑7. Adultery.) (a) Any person who has sexual intercourse with another not his spouse commits adultery, if the behavior is open and notorious, and
(1) The person is married and the other person involved in such intercourse is not his spouse; or
(2) The person is not married and knows that the other person involved in such intercourse is married.
A person shall be exempt from prosecution under this Section if his liability is based solely on evidence he has given in order to comply with the requirements of Section 4‑1.7 of "The Illinois Public Aid Code", approved April 11, 1967, as amended.
(b) Sentence.
Adultery is a Class A misdemeanor.

Bob Elleson posted a comment on John Swezy's blog about TIF. Swezy responded with a personal attack on Elleson, implying that he was motivated by personal interets. Is Swezy the one who makes all the anonymous personal attacks on these blogs? I will stay anonymous myself, lest I become the target of a personal attack by Mr. Swezy.
School District 54 spent money it didn't have to build a gigantic school it couldn't maintain. Very poor decision-making with our tax dollars. Now the city is in need of more space and a way to fund it is through TIF funds. This issue is being argued throughout the state in various communities with the same problem.
Using TIF is an illegal way to fund the city hall.
The city has robbed the schools and the taxpayers. The mayor and city council should be held accountable.
People like Swezy who resort to personal attacks just show how small-minded they are.

12:32 where do you get your information? White Oak was built because the taxpayers voted to build the school and sell the other three buildings; which cost more to operate and maintain than the new building.
I thought the state contributed a large portion to White oak also. People are kinda misinformed around here.
People only voted for White Oak because they were misled about the cost. The state contributed nothing. Obviously, White Oak was a disastrous mistake.
Wait second here. Anonymous here and at old Positive Morris2 does/did nothing but make personal attacks on characters of public officials and quotes inane slogans that are meaningless and all the anon in general are ok with this.

And suddenly its no-no personal attack? The only way it could be a unwarranted personal attack, if its a blatant lie that Elleson wasn't for it back at the time frame. As it stands now, its a pointed question that pokes out a perceived inconstancy and suggests that there might be more going then what is known, and it also leaves room for Elleson to respond to explain why his thought process changed from that point to now. For an internet discussion, that is almost downright polite.
Yeah I know its alot of words and thought for probably two trolls posting anonymously, but I was feeling verbose tonight.
